Данная технология, представленная компанией Seagate, позволяет хранить от 10 до 20 ГБ цифровых данных на устройстве миниатюрного размера и передавать данные по беспроводной связи. Технология D.A.V.E. создана для хранения, передачи и воспроизведения цифровых файлов на мобильных телефонах, компьютерах и других устройствах, поддерживающих беспроводную передачу данных.
Используя соединение по Bluetooth или Wi-Fi, технология дает возможность значительно увеличить объем памяти, не учитывая при этом ни размер, ни стоимость мобильных телефонов и других портативных устройств. Технология имеет открытый программный код, что позволит сторонним разработчикам программного обеспечения создавать новые приложения для мобильных телефонов и других устройств с использованием больших объемов мультимедиа-данных.
Внешний накопитель с технологией D.A.V.E., представленный компанией, имеет размеры 61x89x12 мм и весит всего 70 г. Устройство оснащено литиевой батареей и фирменной системой энергосбережения Storage Management Module, которая позволяет пользоваться устройством до 10 часов в режиме работы и до 14 дней в режиме ожидания.
